120-Hour Electrolysis Training Curriculum
Starting January 2002 the Rocky Mountain College of Laser will be discontinuing our Electrology training classes.
Laser classes will be taught once a month only. The charge for the 4 day class will be $3000. Pre-requisite vocational backgrounds (i.e.: nursing, aesthetician, electrologist, etc) are recommended but not required. Dates will be posted for 2002 by October 2001
The Electrolysis, or Electrology, program is designed to fully prepare the student to safely, effectively and permanently remove hair with the confidence to become employed as an electrologist or to develop a private practice of their own. We recognize that the Electrolysis/Electrology field is now offering limited opportunities to professionals and new technology is quickly moving us into the laser millennium.
I. THE SCIENCES
II. PRINCIPLES OF ELECTRICITY AND EQUIPMENT
Focuses on the principles, which determine the design and function of the electrologists' equipment. Seeks to increase students' knowledge fundamentals of their equipment, thus aiming them with the awareness to evaluate and determine the effectiveness
of permanency among new products, ideas and also many "consumers beware" (i.e. tweezer type, laser) modalities that may be presented
to them.
III. ELECTROLYSIS - Theory of Clinical Application
Familiarizes and equips students in distinguishing the differences of the various modalities and how to choose the benefits appropriate to each method. The students gain techniques and advantages in perfecting high-frequency, galvanic and blend modalities, as well as recognizing that the needle/probe is the most essential piece of equipment for an electrologist in providing permanency.
IV. GENERAL TREATMENT PROCEDURES
Defines to the students step by step the practical problems they may encounter in electrology. All aspects of electrology will be taught in this course. By utilizing "hands on" techniques, demonstrations, optional field trips and video observation, the student will be able to develop important habits. Upon completion of
instruction, students will be allowed to perform electrology treatments on other
students and/or volunteer models on the body only. Students will later be
allowed to do electrology treatments on the face, in addition to the body.
V. RECEPTION AND DESK
Examines all aspects of electrology, including any practical problems students may encounter in electrology. The "hands on" approach provides a platform for participants to develop important habits, which if incorporated produces a successful
professional electrologist.
VI. MANAGEMENT
Students will learn in this course how to maintain accurate bookkeeping records and patient records. Advertising, licensing and insurance requirements will be addressed, as well as suggestions on office location and how best to seek job placement
opportunities.
A. Endocrinology - The causes of hair problems
B. Anatomy - Structure and dynamics of hair and skin
C. Physiology - A practical analysis of the hair and skin
D. Neurology & Angiology - Nervous system and circulatory system
E. Microbiology Disinfection - Sterilization and sanitation
F. Dermatology - Skin disease and precautions
Covers the many causes of hair problems, the structure of skin and hair, and how nerves affect the skin tissue, thus enabling the student to understand causes of infections and the importance of working in a sterilized and disinfected clinical environment. Further, students will be acquainted with disorders of the skin for their patients' protection, as well as our own.

Scheduling for electrolysis training is for only two classes throughout the year, April and September. Please call us to check availability. It requires 80-hours of home study and 40-hours of lab time with a licensed, experienced RMC instructor.
We also offer a Laser Training program.
